How to Stand Out in a Crowded Social Media Space

Social media is a great way to boost your brand awareness at little to no cost. But are you maximizing your social media’s potential? Unless you have a social media team behind you, probably not. If the thought of managing a business social media page (or pages!) seems daunting, you’re not alone - this is why our clients come to us!

You can post all day, every day, but if there are no eyeballs on your content, your efforts are useless. If you’re willing to put in the time and energy, there are ways to ramp up your social media presence without hiring a team. So how do you do this?

Stay True To Your Brand

When a social media user is scrolling through their feed, you want them to instantly be able to identify your brand when they lock eyes with your post. By using brand-specific logos, text, colors, and imagery on every single post, you can ensure your feed is authentic to your brand and purpose. If you’re sharing a graphic that is text-related, it’s important to keep it clean and brand-specific. Any other imagery used can be in the form of professional photographs of your people/product or stock images that resonate with your brand and customer base.

You also want to be honest with your audience in every sense of the word. If you prompt a discussion in a post, make sure you’re there to respond to the comments. If someone messages you with a question, make sure you’re able to answer in a timely manner. By building trust with your audience through responsiveness, they are more likely to share your page with others.

Understanding Your Audience

To grow your online presence, you must post content that your audience relates to. If your brand is a product such as apparel or food, beautiful imagery and video content would draw people in. However, if you’re more service-based, such as a technology firm, you may opt to share more informative text graphics or company culture. Another easy way to tune in with your audience is by sharing blogs and relevant articles you stumble across. By understanding your followers' needs and wants, you can curate engaging content that boosts your social media ranking, which in turn increases your brand awareness.

Are You On The Right Platforms?

There are so many social media platforms out there and it seems new ones are popping up all the time (remember a few months ago when Threads boomed seemingly in the middle of the night?!) Don’t let the amount of options out there overwhelm you. By honing in on the platforms your audience is most active on, you can help expand your reach. For example, Facebook is not popular with a younger audience, so if your product or service is specific to a 20-year-old, you generally won’t find them on this platform. You will, however, probably find them on a platform such as TikTok. Start by analyzing the most popular audiences for each platform and figure out which ones best suit your brand's target market.

Using Algorithms To Your Benefit

Social media algorithms are changing all the time. By staying on top of them, you can help your content trend higher in the rankings, which helps increase the amount of people who see your posts. One easy way to do this is by utilizing a proper social media scheduler. You want to make sure you’re using one that’s able to generate weekly and monthly reports. By analyzing these reports on a regular basis, you are able to better understand the best days and times your audience is active.

Another tried and tested method to boost your content to the top is by encouraging engagement on each post. It’s no secret that the more activity a post receives, the higher it ranks on people's feeds. You can do this by creating a call to action that entices your followers.
